Society Protocol Season 3 11

Urban Destruction

The young men of the Million Salvation Sect began advancing toward nearby military bases in trucks equipped with EMPs.

They neutralized radar with EMPs and subdued soldiers with Angel's Trumpets.

They then took over air force bases containing helicopters and fighter jets, and began taking over army bases containing tanks.

They infiltrated the quarters where pilots were waiting and strangled them to death with Angel's Trumpets.

Now, some military units had lost the bases they could use to attack the Million Salvation Sect.

Jackson determined that relying solely on using Mode 10 to cut off the breath of nearby humans was too slow.

Therefore, he ordered the operation to be conducted again in Mode 7.

Having secured air superiority, the Million Salvation Sect equipped their helicopters with Angel's Trumpets and began installing power generators to amplify their power.

As the helicopters flew over the city, they fired radio waves toward human brains. At that moment, citizens whose frontal lobes had been damaged began to run wild violently and start setting fires.

Then, the city gas flared up, causing cities to explode and turn into a sea of fire.

Some people drove their cars into buildings, while others stabbed their own families.

The city became a scene of utter chaos.

The surviving members of the SS watched the situation unfold from their underground bunker, their second emergency hideout.

They had no choice but to watch with their own eyes the society they had built crumble.

People stormed museums, smashed artwork, and set fire to libraries.

As the water and electricity were cut off, a living hell unfolded.

Even those unaffected by the radio waves began looting shops to survive.

And because they couldn't tell who the lunatic was, they began killing anyone they saw with weapons they had made themselves, such as knives or baseball bats. It looked just like swinging a baseball bat to survive in a ruined city in a zombie movie or game.

Aside from the SS members and those associated with them, the majority of people had no idea why this was happening.

The stock market had collapsed, and the food distribution network was completely paralyzed.

People did not hesitate to scoop up river water to obtain drinking water.

With the electricity cut off, communications were paralyzed as well.

Those feature-rich smartphones were completely useless.

The internet was cut off, and broadcasts could not be heard.

Public order and the law were now useless, serving no purpose whatsoever.

The Million Salvation Sect suppressed the prisons.

They subdued the guards with the "Angel's Trumpet" and threw open the bars.

However, even those who had committed crimes could not simply walk out or think about harming others. At that moment, the Angel's Trumpet fired at a few people in Mode 7, and they went berserk.

Then, alternating between Modes 3 and 4, they began paralyzing anyone they encountered.

They started to escape to survive in prison.

The people in prison uniforms looted nearby cars and tried to flee into the city.

Some clever prisoners switched directions, stripped off their clothes, and entered the forest.

Once they entered the city, the prisoners confronted ordinary citizens who saw their uniforms and began killing each other.

It was not that any drug or virus turning them into zombies had been injected into them.

It was merely that the frontal lobe in their brains, which controls them, had been neutralized.

Perhaps humans were originally nothing more than cruel beasts.

Now, the only safe people left were those who had left the city to farm or raise livestock in the countryside,

and perhaps fishermen on boats.

Only those living in remote mountain valleys or jungles were able to escape the calamity. Rumors began to circulate among some of the people.

They said that if they went underground, they could survive because radio waves wouldn't reach.

People began running into the area where the subway was located.

However, some members of the Million Salvation Sect took angel trumpets from there and shot at the people in Mode 7.

It was as if they had entered a completely sealed cage.

In the dark underground, where the electricity had been cut off and all power had gone out,

people collapsed and died after being beaten with clubs by strangers they didn't even know.

The hospital had long been rendered incapacitated.

Humans trying to obtain antibiotics and anesthetics to stitch up wounds,

and addicts trying to forget the situation by taking drugs, raided the hospital.

Even the hospital, which had been running on a self-generating power system, eventually became a sea of fire.

The economy, which they had long revered like a religion, turned to ashes in an instant,

and the buildings and luxury cars they had coveted were nothing more than scraps of cement and iron. The laws, ethics, and morals that had been upheld until now were nothing but a complete illusion.

Now, for the sake of survival, the natural ecosystem of survival of the fittest had been restored.

The angel watching the human city being destroyed from above smiled.

It was because he saw the Earth finally recovering its health as humans—like cancer cells parasitizing the planet—demolished the tumors called buildings and cities that they had recklessly constructed.

Inside the human body, countless viruses and bacteria coexisted.

Sometimes they were beneficial to the human body, and sometimes they were harmful.

Then, realizing that if the host died, they would die too, bacteria compromised with the human body and lived by establishing a symbiotic relationship.

However, these humans destroyed the entire system.

Just a few years ago, small fish swam around the seashore, and crayfish played in the streams in the mountains.

But as they manufactured objects for their own convenience, the water and air became polluted.

In the name of advancing technology, they produced even stronger pollutants that harmed nature.

And they continued to bring things buried underground to the surface. They would expand their power until the Earth was completely destroyed.

The angel thought that it was fortunate for the Earth that treatment was being provided, even now.

Perhaps thinking that there was nothing left for him to do, the angel prepared to leave Earth.

This was because he had to convey this information to another angel above so that God would eventually know.

Although God, being God, would know everything.

Since he was rotating the stars of the entire universe, he would likely not be very interested in such trivial battles of dust.

However, after confirming that his mission was complete, the angel left Earth for a while.

He would return to fulfill the promise to ultimately leave exactly one million humans behind.

If the number exceeded one million, the angel might have to clean up the rest himself.

Smart Snake's organization was almost entirely devastated.

Their organization operated based on social infrastructure.

Basically, electricity and water were necessary to keep humans gathered in the limited space known as a city. Buildings such as apartments and office buildings were necessary to increase mobility efficiency.

Public order, such as the police and the law, was essential for people to safely engage in economic activities to satisfy their desires.

Distribution was necessary to transport agricultural products and food from production areas to the cities.

It was akin to gathering the blood and oxygen flowing throughout the entire body into one place.

This consumes a high amount of energy, and among the body's organs, the only thing most similar to this is a cancerous tumor.

Just as a tumor grows larger, the city began to expand.

All energy was concentrated in the city.

The society they had built—that is, human society—had completely collapsed.

However, they did not give up hope. They simply needed to regenerate.

If they combined human knowledge, experience, and passion with the greed for material possessions, society would rise again. The problem, however, was that they had no way to deal with the enemies currently seeking to harm them.

It was an organization selected from among humans, who possessed the highest intelligence among all living beings on Earth,

and even among those with higher intelligence, and specifically those with the passion to advance the most.

They were even using special drugs to enhance that intelligence.

Yet, seeing themselves being murdered by humans who praised a naive god and suppressed their own desires, they felt an immense sense of defeat.

They felt a desperate sense of powerlessness, and felt their once active bodies shrinking and becoming diminutive.

Their strong willpower dulled, and tears flowed from their eyes.

The strength in their grip diminished. Now, they had no desire to eat. Their only thought was to drink and forget.

It seemed that the higher a human's intelligence, the greater the shock of defeat and the crushing of their self-esteem.

Now, it was not humans who could solve this problem.

Only the serpent could solve this problem.

The serpent did not dominate or manipulate humans.

Although the Bible says the serpent tempted them, it was not merely an instinctive emotion like that of an animal.

They provided motivation.

“If you eat this fruit, it tastes good, it makes you feel good, and you become rich.”

It was absolutely not like that.

“God said that if you eat this fruit, you will die. Is that true?”

God had warned that eating the fruit would lead to death.

However, despite the fear of death, humans still picked and ate the fruit because of this single statement from the serpent.

“If you eat this fruit, you can become like God.”

This is what was meant by saying the serpent tempted them. The serpent did not tempt them. It was to provide the motivation for action so that he could become like a god.

It was to present a possibility.

It was to teach him to do his best to unleash his full potential.

And the most important thing is this:

“You can do it. You can do it. You can get what you want.”

The most important member, who was both a member of the SS and the head of the DS, rose from his seat while watching the video transmitted from their satellite.

He thought that the time had come to do his absolute best one last time.

He pushed away the wheelchair he was sitting in and collapsed to the floor.

And he shouted out loud.

“I can do it. I can do it. I can be anything I want.”

The most important member, who had no arms or legs, flailed on the floor. It was then.

Arms and legs began to extend from his body.

A few minutes passed like that. The most important one moved his arms, fingers, and toes.

It was exactly the form he had wanted.

Now, he had to go and show the humans who had collapsed, floundered in failure, and retreated into caves,

how capable and full of potential they were.

Because the humans he loved were beings capable of anything.

“If you eat this fruit, you too can become a god. Rise up; you can do it.”
