Society Protocol Season 3 04
Final Experiment
The message was delivered via messenger to the highest-ranking officials in each region of the MS (Million Salvation Sect).
This was partly because there was no way to know if the communication might be intercepted or bugged,
and partly because explaining the content directly made it easier to understand and allowed them to gauge the recipient's reaction.
They drove around the city together, equipped with "angel trumpets."
Those delivering the message were called "Doves."
These Doves would pick up the regional representatives in their cars and drive out of places like prayer centers where they had been lying in wait.
It was a sort of test.
If they spotted people who hated them, they would test them directly.
However, it was not easy to encounter people who would pick a fight or openly express their hatred.
Especially in a place like Korea, where people with such peculiar religious tendencies
would go around everywhere holding picket signs, so simply avoiding them was all they could do.
So, it was at the point when they were about to stop the test and return.
It was evening, and the sun was slowly setting as the test vehicle was circling the area near the casino in Gangwon-do.
It seemed certain that someone would pick a fight here.
The person with the pigeon was Pastor Hwang, the representative of the Korean branch.
All he had heard was that the angel's trumpet was a weapon and the helmet was armor protecting him from it,
and that they would be conducting a direct test to verify how it worked.
They parked the car in a bustling area with many restaurants, a short distance from the casino, and walked around together.
Around the restaurants, there seemed to be more people who appeared to be on family trips than those who had come to gamble.
Since Pastor Hwang himself had never been to a casino area in Korea, he had absolutely no idea what the atmosphere was like.
They had never even imagined that someone would stop a passerby and pick a fight in Gangwon-do.
However, this was not a place inhabited solely by Gangwon residents.
It was a gathering place for people addicted to gambling from all over the country.
While many of them were there to enjoy the games, there were undoubtedly others who were not.
Sure enough, three drunk men began to pick a fight with the two men.
At first, they simply bumped into his shoulder as they passed by.
The pastor apologized, but they continued to nitpick.
Avoiding the busy streets, they walked toward the outdoor parking lot where cars were parked.
The three men followed them, talking amongst themselves, laughing, and even flicking cigarette butts toward the pastor while smoking.
Eventually, they followed the two men all the way to the parking lot.
The sight of the two men wearing white helmets was quite comical.
From a distance, only two helmets were visible. And the cigarette light flickered slowly, brightening and dimming like a dot.
Among them, a man who was heavily intoxicated began tapping Pastor Hwang's helmet with his hand.
“What is this? What kind of bastards are you?”
Pastor Hwang had no intention of participating in the test, but he ended up doing it anyway.
He had no choice, but perhaps this was all God's will.
He prayed to God for forgiveness regarding his upcoming actions.
Although he was acting according to God's will, he also felt as though he were committing a kind of sin.
As Pastor Hwang began to pray, they started giggling at each other.
“Looks like you’re worried about getting beaten up, huh?”
The most cocky man eventually approached Pastor Hwang.
Just then, the pigeon aimed a cylindrical flashlight-like object tucked into his waistband at the man's head.
Then, he took out the smartphone from his waist and pressed the button.
The button was number 3.
Soon, the other person's body was about to start twisting.
But there was no reaction. The man pushed Pastor Hwang with his hands.
The Pigeon pressed button number 4.
The man's body was going to be paralyzed and stop.
But the man did not react. Something was wrong.
The Pigeon began checking what was wrong, one by one.
The smartphone was working, and the charging port at the bottom was connected to the flashlight-shaped antenna.
The earphone jack was connected to the helmet. Nothing was missing.
It was a mistake.
Before coming out, they should have checked to each other to see if it was working.
The man began grabbing Pastor Hwang by the collar. It was a crisis.
Pastor Hwang could be considered the most important person in Korea.
Even looking at the whole picture, he was a key figure ranking within the top 10 of the Million Salvation Sect.
They could not allow such a person to be assaulted. He pressed the 10 button on the smartphone.
He hadn't intended to test this far.
Then, he shone the flashlight-shaped antenna at the man.
Two other men watching the scene pointed their fingers and laughed.
The man was now on the verge of throwing a punch at Pastor Hwang.
Just then, the pigeon tapped the flashlight-shaped antenna he was holding in his left hand with his right hand.
It was then.
As the man collapsed, he clutched his neck.
If the light shone on him for too long, he would die.
Two colleagues ran toward the fallen man.
Just then, the pigeon fired its flashlight-shaped antenna at the heads of the two men.
The two men collapsed along with it.
In just a few seconds, it had subdued all three of them.
The pigeon changed the direction of its flashlight-shaped antenna toward the sky.
At that, the three men began to breathe.
Pastor Hwang watched from right in front of him, witnessing a scene that looked as if he were being zapped by electricity.
The pigeon pressed a button on the smartphone. It was number 2.
The man, who had been gasping for breath, began screaming and cursing.
The pigeon pointed the antenna at the man.
Then, he began making strange noises.
With the antenna still pointed, the pigeon pressed button number 3 on the smartphone.
The man's body began to twist. Then, he pointed the antenna toward the heads of the other people standing nearby and watching.
At that, those two people also twisted their bodies simultaneously.
The test results showed that even without shining the light directly on their heads, if one envisioned an imaginary circle about one meter in size,
it seemed the device would work once they entered that space.
Pastor Hwang walked slowly toward the pigeon.
Then, he stood behind the pigeon and watched it.
“It seems to be working. Now, I will check the distance.”
The pigeon pressed button number 4 on the smartphone.
Then, slowly backing away, it pointed the flashlight-shaped antenna toward their heads every three steps or so.
At that, the three men froze simultaneously.
Then, when the antenna was pointed back toward the sky, they began to move.
Moving backward a few steps at a time, it began measuring the distance by pointing the antenna at the people and then toward the sky.
It seemed to operate for well up to 30 meters.
And it appeared that the operating range expanded as the distance increased.
Now, it was necessary to verify how far the range expanded to a certain angle at a distance of about 30 meters.
It pressed button number 3 on the smartphone again.
Then, it shone the center of the device toward the three men.
At that, the men's bodies began to twist.
It moved them slightly out of that range.
It seemed to affect an area up to about 3 meters from the center. The range was longer than expected, and the further the range, the wider the area over which the radio waves were transmitted.
The important thing was the distance from the head.
It did not seem to affect the body at all.
Pastor Hwang took out his smartphone and pointed the antenna at the people, just as the pigeon does.
Then he pressed number 7 on the smartphone.
Then the pigeon turned the antenna toward the sky.
Then something strange happened.
The three of them started cursing at each other and began punching and fighting wildly.
When Pastor Hwang pointed the antenna toward the sky, they stopped fighting.
And when he pointed the antenna again, they started cursing at each other and punching and fighting.
Pastor Hwang offered a prayer of thanksgiving to God.
Then he turned off the app on his smartphone.
The men stopped fighting for a moment, no longer affected by the radio waves.
However, the fight resumed immediately.
“But why are you hitting me, you bastard?”
Now, the real fight had begun. It was no longer due to the influence of radio waves.
The three drunk men began punching and kicking each other in a real fight.
They seemed to have momentarily forgotten that Pastor Hwang and his group were there.
Pastor Hwang walked slowly outside with a pigeon.
A short while later, two police cars arrived at the parking lot following a report from someone, and the three men were taken into custody.
Even inside the police station, they did not stop fighting.
The police secured the CCTV footage for the investigation.
A strange video was discovered within it.
The men's bodies twisted, stopped, and then moved again, appearing as if they were possessed by ghosts. Soon, this video became a hot topic within the police station.
And eventually, the video spread across the internet thanks to someone within the police force.
The title of the video was "Parking Lot Ghost Video."
The description read as follows:
It claimed that a person who died after losing money at a casino and being chased by debt had become a ghost,
and was tormenting others in the parking lot.
However, no one talked about the two men wearing white helmets.
There was only speculation that they were delivery men.
The parking lot was dark, and because the footage only showed the three men fighting as a circular mark, the surrounding situation was not clearly visible.
However, Min-hyuk, who was searching the internet, discovered the video.
He sensed that something was amiss.
He then sent the video to the members of the SS Korea Branch.
A significant number of the members were already aware of the device.
This was because they had already used the device when they needed to divert public attention to quell public opinion.
They had pre-selected mentally fragile individuals for cases that were completely unbelievable to the general public—such as child abuse, child mistreatment, murder, arson, and assault—and then used the helmet to commit actual crimes at the time when news coverage was needed.
Of course, the helmet was not used directly.
Sometimes it became a hat, and sometimes a hoodie.
It is said that in some cases, it was even miniaturized into a hair clip. As soon as the members of the SS Korea Branch saw the video, they realized that something similar to the device they used had been operating.
That equipment was something only SS members could use.
There was no precedent of it being used by other departments or organizations.
Therefore, this was tantamount to a message that the enemy had begun direct operations.
Although it was unclear why they had committed such an act near a casino in Gangwon Province,
Ji Seo-hoon became convinced as it occurred to him that the enemy's base was located in the Gangwon region.
He picked up the phone and issued a summons to all headquarters members.
This was a moment that required everyone's collective wisdom.
They considered heading straight to Gangwon-do, but if the enemies possessed that equipment,
it would be tantamount to facing a gunner with bare hands.
No, they might actually have to flee to places without radio signals.
The basic assumption was that no one had the technology or device to defend against that equipment.
The members boarded the car heading to the golf practice range, feeling tense.
However, Kang Min-hyuk did not know the full story.
He was simply going because he was told to.
He had merely watched a fascinating video.
