Society Protocol Season 2 12
Encounter with an Angel 2
The youngest angel, disguised as an old man, boarded the helicopter again.
Jackson waved his hand from behind as he saw him off.
“He didn’t believe at all earlier, but he only believes when I shove money in his hand. Such are humans.”
The old man snorted and looked at Jackson’s church from the helicopter.
[Humans even create places of praise like this for a God who has absolutely no interest in them. No wonder God must be fond of them.]
The youngest angel also came to think that he would feel good if there were people praising him.
However, such human sentiment did not suit an angel.
It was because everything would return to nothingness.
Everything begins from nothing and ends in nothingness.
The helicopter landed at an airport in Nevada a few minutes later.
From here, he would board his private plane and travel to Korea this time.
Flying overseas in a small aircraft, rather than within the United States, was no easy feat.
However, wasn't he an angel?
He had used his influence to the fullest to pass through immigration and was now about to fly to Korea.
He disembarked from the helicopter and boarded the plane.
The plane carrying the angel came into their sight as it took off from the runway.
Guard Dogs, who had been detecting the old man's movements through sensors installed by the Watch Dogs, were circling over Nevada.
They were continuously monitoring the old man for any contact with Jackson.
They could not directly deal with Jackson, who was a human.
Directly interfering in human affairs would be breaking their rules.
However, a clue emerged during the conversation between the angel and Reverend Jackson that threatened all of humanity.
To eliminate all of mankind, he had handed over all of his entire fortune to Jackson, keeping only a portion of it for himself.
This action was officially communicated to everyone before he departed from Florida.
And so, he had completed the paperwork and come straight here. The guard dogs sent by the descendants of the snakes—that is, the guard dogs—had followed the old man all the way to Nevada.
Their role was merely to keep watch until they discovered the objective.
The moment they realized what the objective was, they relayed the information to headquarters in Seattle.
“Understood. Good job. Everyone withdraw and go on vacation. The hunting dogs will handle the next one.”
The Watchdogs, flying black forward-swept wings—small aircraft that, unlike ordinary planes, had wings that curved from back to front—used drones for surveillance.
The Guard dogs, a light ochre color resembling beige, were also forward-swept wing aircraft.
However, they were slightly larger, allowing them to fly long distances.
Their aircraft were equipped with radar tracking devices both above and below.
After they left, Hunting Dogs, whose purpose was hunting, swarmed in.
The Hunting Dogs were gray and large. They were also carrying missiles.
Their most powerful weapon was a cruise missile capable of flying about 500 kilometers.
They also had small drones and Sidewinder-style tracking missiles that fired steel fragments.
Six Hunting Dogs were deployed. The Guard dogs did not want to be with the Hunting Dogs.
This was because they were the group they least wanted to associate with, even within their own pack.
The youngest angel, now in the body of an old man, was on a plane about to leave the United States, flying over California toward the Pacific Ocean.
The hunting dogs had raised their altitude significantly higher and were watching the timing from above.
The youngest angel had a fun time drinking wine on the plane for the first time.
He was fascinated watching fascinating videos on the laptop.
“Humans are like that.”
The youngest angel had no information and no experience.
He was thinking only of achieving his own purpose and God's will.
It was when the plane carrying the angel had left the U.S. border and was beginning to approach international waters.
Hunting Dog No. 1 radioed Seattle.
“What should we do? They are leaving our airspace and entering international waters.”
In Seattle, several descendants of the Serpent had gathered.
Because it was a special situation, they must have been worried that relying solely on the Seattle representative would suffice.
However, the mission was completed even more brilliantly than expected.
At this level, the Seattle representative might be regarded as the most capable person in the future.
Because he had perfectly prepared everything in advance for an event that had never occurred before through a single operation,
when the crisis arose, he was resolving all problems at a rapid pace.
However, there was a disagreement regarding how to construct a scenario to make it look like an accident.
“We have to make it look like a bird flew in and caused the accident.”
“That’s what you do when taking off or landing. They’re already high up in the sky, so where would there be a bird? Up there.”
The brothers, who had arrived late, were bickering and fighting at a crucial moment.
The Seattle officer did not let his guard down.
It seemed he was the only one who realized that he wasn’t fighting against such simple humans.
[The enemy right now is an angel sent by God. I don’t know why, but he’s quite clumsy; that doesn’t mean he’s incompetent.]
The Seattle officer thought to himself.
“If we strike clumsily, our identities could be exposed. And we might even face a counterattack.”
The Hunting Dog understood what the Seattle officer was saying.
If they carelessly threw something like a shuriken, they could be counterattacked.
And the enemy might notice them pursuing with cruise missiles.
“We will use Number 6 to strike directly from the flank.”
Hunting Dog No. 1 presented his suggestion to the Seattle officer.
It seemed the Seattle officer had no choice but to do so.
It would be flashy and conspicuous, but the opponent was no ordinary human.
“Get Number 6 ready and attack in about 15 minutes.”
“Understood.”
Hunting Dog No. 6 ascended at a 45-degree angle, gaining altitude, and once they reached a certain distance,
began to accelerate tremendously. A single large missile was mounted on the underside of Hunting Dog No. 6.
About 12 minutes later, Hunting Dog No. 6 was waiting at an altitude about 10 kilometers higher than the plane carrying the old man.
“Ready to launch. Disperse, everyone.”
At Hunting Dog No. 6's announcement, all the other Hunting Dogs changed course and began to turn around.
They were speeding away from the scene.
The plane carrying the old man was moving along the line he had set.
As soon as Hunting Dog No. 6 pressed the launch button, he raised the nose and accelerated to get out of the area as quickly as possible.
The missile fired by Hunting Dog No. 6 was flying toward a designated point.
If the calculations were correct, the plane carrying the old man would pass there in a moment.
It wasn't quite like shooting a bullet with a bullet, but it required a considerably high level of concentration.
It was about the same difficulty as shooting a hawk flying to catch prey.
Inside the plane, the old man was drinking wine while watching a video stored on the computer.
"Hmm, something feels off. What is this? What kind of feeling is this?"
As soon as the missile fired by Hunting Dog No. 6 approached the plane carrying the old man, it exploded. It emitted a white flash, unleashing heat and a storm.
In an instant, a mushroom cloud spread through the air, and electromagnetic waves flew in all directions.
The rest of the Hunting Dog team managed to escape the moment, but the missile exploded before Hunting Dog No. 6 could descend below its target altitude.
Electrical system failures occurred on all ships passing through the area.
Communications were cut off, and the engines stopped working.
Hunting Dog No. 6 realized his failure as a problem appeared on the instrument panel.
The mission had succeeded, but it would be difficult for him to survive.
He pulled the lever and attempted to escape. Fortunately, the lever was functioning.
It was only then that a tremendous roar was heard from far behind him.
The moment he descended with his parachute, a tremendous gust of wind blew.
Hunting Dog No. 6 detached his parachute with about ten meters remaining to fall into the sea. He fell into the water.
Then he came up and lay down, looking up at the sky.
It was the first missile he had ever used, and he had thought he would never have to use it again.
However, in a way, unlike routine missions, in his first mission—which was the most important—
he had completed everything he had to do.
Now, he had no regrets about life.
The organization would praise him, and his family would live happily forever.
Hunting Dog No. 6 smiled, thinking this. He had no regrets even if he died.
However, other Hunting Dogs returned to rescue their comrade, and as they circled around him, they waved their wings to send a message of reassurance.
On the far opposite side of the sky, a fireball was slowly fading away. The Rescue Dog, a large aircraft kept on standby just in case, was to fly in shortly.
Although there was only one rescue dog, it was large and equipped with various surface and ground equipment.
It was also equipped with an underwater drone capable of detecting and rescuing targets even underwater.
Using optical equipment, the Rescue Dog located Hunting Dog No. 6.
“Location identified. Hunting Dogs, please return.”
“Thank you, Rescue Dog.”
Hunting Dog No. 1 delivered the message on behalf of the group, and they returned.
Rescue Dog sent a rescue boat and a drone to a location about 300 meters away from Hunting Dog No. 6.
The drone extended its legs like a claw machine on the street and grabbed Hunting Dog No. 6.
Then, it placed Hunting Dog No. 6 onto the rescue boat.
Then, the drone docked with Rescue Dog again and departed.
Rescue Dog was controlling the aircraft through the equipment attached to its wrist.
Rescue Dog was actually on board the rescue boat.
“Thank you for coming, Rescue Dog.”
“Thanks to you, I can now get my paycheck without having to walk on eggshells.”
The Rescue Dog, who was smiling at Hunting Dog, was a woman.
Although their faces were not revealed to each other, they felt a strong sense of camaraderie.
They had used their ultimate weapon to blow away the messenger God had sent to kill them, leaving not even a trace of dust. The boat was moving, gradually picking up speed. Its flat shape began to fold like wings, closing its lid as it raced across the sea.
On the boat, balloons with attached cables began to rise into the sky.
There were a total of four, each attached to one corner of the boat.
The Rescue Dog aircraft returned and hooked the balloons sent from the boat onto its hooks.
Then, the boat was lifted into the air.
As the cables slowly wound up, the boat made contact with the aircraft; as the boat's hatch opened, the Rescue Dog re-entered the plane.
Hunting Dog No. 6 appeared to have no major injuries, so a stretcher was not necessary.
However, isolation and examination were required to prepare for potential radiation exposure.
So, they planned to land in the nearest city, San Diego.
“If there are no major issues, return directly to Seattle.”
They changed their course back to Seattle.
The Seattle officer’s voice was filled with joy, so everyone expected good results or a party.
“We killed an angel. This is a great achievement that no one has ever accomplished.”
Although the Seattle officer was talking to himself, everyone in the room must have heard it.
The other brothers in the world did not know that his father had acknowledged him and placed him in the most important position.
Outwardly, they were doing important work, and the Seattle headquarters was like a soldier in a country without war, doing nothing.
However, they had accomplished something that no one else could do in a single moment.
His phone rang. He had only saved the number, but it was the first time he had actually received it.
“I heard the story. It was excellent. You truly are my most precious son.”
Although it was just a brief remark, the Seattle representative felt like he was flying upon hearing his father’s praise.
It felt as though the whole world belonged to him.
This news was also made known to God and his angelic order.
The angels were shocked. Not only because they had lost their youngest, but also because it was the moment they realized that something they had never once imagined could happen: that they might disappear from the world God had created.
Now, it was no longer simply a matter of Earth and humanity.
It was because they realized that their very survival could be threatened by things as insignificant as dust.
