Society Protocol Season 2 - Episode 1

System Analysis

MS, or Million Saviors, had its headquarters located near Pyramid Lake, about 100 km north of Carson City, the capital of Nevada.

It was not far from a town called Nixon. The lake was a desolate place with nothing around it.

It gave the impression that if there were a lake on Mars, it might look like this.

First, it was advantageous to be located in Nevada, which, unlike other states in the U.S., had laws that allowed it to be free from various restrictions.

Furthermore, it had to be situated not too far from Carson City, the capital, to conduct administrative business.

Also, since Reno-Tahoe International Airport was located midway between Pyramid Lake and Carson City,

to travel most conveniently across the vast land of the United States, using an airplane was the only option.

And just about 20 kilometers further west was California.

It was situated right on the border between Nevada and California.

So, they determined that they could utilize California's infrastructure.

However, the problem was that wildfires frequently occurred in the surrounding forests.

Although the area between California and the desert-heavy Nevada was densely forested,

because it belonged to a dry climate, wildfires often started naturally due to friction or lightning.

And because the forest was so vast and dry, the fires spread very quickly.

So, they chose a remote, almost uninhabited location completely devoid of trees.

That place was Pyramid Lake.

Rather than constructing a new temple, they purchased a wealthy man's villa located on the existing Lake Tahoe, which was designed like a resort.

Unlike Lake Pyramid, Lake Tahoe had resorts and many recreational facilities.

They designed it to serve as a relay station connecting to the rest of the world.

The distance between the headquarters on Tahoe and Lake Pyramid was approximately 100 km.

Then, they built a chapel with a geodesic dome a few kilometers away from Lake Pyramid.

Nearly a million people had gathered from around the world, and since they secured funds by collecting donations from those believers, there were no major problems.

It was just like being in the middle of a war.

The atmosphere was such that the cost was not the issue; failing to do this was tantamount to losing one's life and one's country.

They believed that for the most efficient, column-free architectural style capable of accommodating a large number of people at once, there was nothing more suitable than a dome structure.

From a distance, the large dome-shaped building resembled a tent, and because its shape shifted slightly when the wind blew strongly, it also resembled the shape of water droplets or dew.

To prevent the place from taking on a prison-like atmosphere, the pastors incorporated church-style interiors to the fullest extent.

The ceiling was constructed in the shape of a cross using large, transparent plastic panels designed to allow sunlight to enter like glass windows.

Since the Nevada sun is hot, they also created a curtain-style device that covered the ceiling with a tarp using a remote control.

To minimize resonance and noise, carpets were laid on the floor, and a massive carpet was created, appearing as if the entire volume produced by a small to medium-sized carpet factory in a month had been combined into one.

The size of this new sanctuary is roughly that of a baseball field.

In fact, some of the engineers who built baseball fields participated in its construction.

Careful placement was required to ensure that the large screens, massive speakers, and the sounds emanating from them would not echo or distort like noise.

The pastors knew.

That acoustics were so important that they accounted for nearly half of the worship service.

Large satellite antennas were installed at the Tahoe mansion to access computer systems and various overseas information.

Two antennas were installed, one facing east and the other west.

The left one was connected to a satellite over the Pacific Ocean, and the right one to a satellite over the Atlantic Ocean.

The villa's living room was transformed into a broadcasting studio; the entire wall was painted white, and all the windows were sealed.

Near the dome-shaped chapel, various wiring works were carried out to provide internet and electricity.

Furthermore, a kind of massive field was created to grow and supply fresh vegetables directly.

And a large underground warehouse was constructed to store food. It was a method to protect food from sunlight.

In the basement, massive freezer warehouses for storing meat and fish, cold storage warehouses for storing vegetables and fruits, and refrigerators and shelves for storing beverages and sealed canned products began to be installed.

Basically, because there was an abundance of sunlight, solar panels were installed on the outer slabs of the dome.

Therefore, because the domed chapel resembled a gemstone that emitted a deep blue hue and appeared black in some ways,

people began to call it Onyx.

That name stuck and became known as Onyx.

As the temple was being constructed, the headquarters in Tahoe continuously recruited people from all over the world.

To collect their personal information, they conducted survey-style question-and-answer sessions regarding their experiences, fields of work, and personal characteristics,

and began collecting and classifying that information.

They classified a total of 10 categories of people.

The first was related to food.

They classified people who had experience with food and the drive to take action.

Second, they classified people with artistic temperaments.

They possessed creativity and belonged to the category of people involved in music, art, some writing, and design.

The third were people with experience in managing property.

They were classified not only as people with experience with money or currency, but also as those who could recognize the value of various objects.

Fourth, they classified business professionals.

These were individuals capable of securing investments, funding, and necessary resources.

Fifth, they classified managers.

They had experience with etiquette, manners, rules of conduct, and laws.

And sixth, they classified people with rugged and specialized experience, such as police officers, soldiers, doctors, and firefighters.

Seventh, they classified people possessing general knowledge and information. They gathered people such as professors, researchers, teachers, and writers.

Eighth, they classified and gathered those possessing unique knowledge.

Those with experience in programming, electronic product design, automotive design, management, and manufacturing, as well as architects, were included here.

Ninth, they classified the group of people who enjoy managing others and competing.

They gathered athletes, gamers, and others who are strong in competition against others while also being able to look after people.

They gathered those with a cooperative spirit.

Finally, the tenth group gathered people with a tendency to seek revenge if harmed by others.

They did not even accept applications from individuals who were overtly violent or had serious criminal records.

However, there were some who appeared to have violent tendencies.

They did not succumb to such a severe state without external stimulation.

However, when external stimulation occurred, they would become enraged and display aggression.

These individuals were classified as the tenth category.

However, since humans are never expressed in an extreme way by a single trait,

for example, studying while cooking or being violent while manufacturing

because these traits could be mixed, these 10 tendencies could be classified into squared situations.

Number 1 and 2, Number 1 and 3, and so on.

As they created the classification chart, they found that a million people existed almost evenly distributed across them.

And the criminal and violent tendencies,

and the sexual tendencies—which they themselves thought did not exist at all—were actually emerging from these minority categories.

While these categories were too small to be noticeable when viewed as the total of 10, as they combined a few to distinguish human tendencies,

the previously hidden numbers began to grow larger.

Using this classification chart, when drawing a large circle, people with the exact opposite tendencies also began to become visible.

The group with tendencies completely opposite to one's own accounted for about 2% of the total.

For example, it was observed that completely extreme musicians or artists with artistic temperaments,

and those who strive to uphold the system to the extreme within the boundaries of society and the law,

exhibited forms of complete incompatibility.

However, another discovery was that even these complete incompatibility could sometimes be understood when they were together to some extent.

Rather, conflict arose among people who shared common tendencies—similar yet slightly different—within approximately 50% of the population.

It was none other than the young pastor Jackson, who had become the leader of MS, who directed this classification.

This classification was made because it was one of the revelations received from God.

One might have thought that all humans were the same or similar,

but humans with similar tendencies to oneself accounted for only 2%.

In other words, about one in fifty people is somewhat similar to oneself.

There also exists another 2% of people who are completely different.

I am talking about people whose thoughts and tastes are the exact opposite.

This was a kind of rule established universally for everyone.

That is why social problems arose.

In this society, only 2% are 100 percent compatible, while another 2% are completely incompatible.

Therefore, all regions are divided, divided by religion, and divided by nation.

And they are also divided by language.

Language occupied a much larger proportion than one might think.

The reason people are categorized by language is as follows:

In some countries, the object was important.

In others, the verb was of the utmost importance.

In some countries, adjectives are incredibly developed.

In other words, there were specific things considered important for each language.

This implies that those things considered important also influence one's own life.

For example, if you look at the Japanese, their language consists of 50 sounds.

Of course, it can be expanded slightly, but there are only a few pronunciations that can be produced.

Therefore, for words that do not exist in the Japanese pronunciation, even if one heard the sound directly from a foreigner,

one could not immediately imitate and pronounce them.

Furthermore, they use different characters to represent words native to Japan and words introduced from abroad.

This takes the form of discrimination against foreign things.

Things that come from the outside are different from what one possesses as their own.

It is interpreted in this way.

Therefore, discrimination against people exists.

And there is a distinction between the living and the non-living.

Everything involves acknowledging a kind of difference, and discrimination exists within that.

That is why people who use such a language end up possessing such a character.

The idea was that among all the diverse languages of the world, similar parts tend to share similar tendencies,

while completely different languages possess completely different ways of thinking and ideologies.

There were distinctions based on geographical features.

Furthermore, people's dispositions differed depending on what they ate.

Also, regarding the nature of the social systems, there were significant differences between cities and the countryside.

In crowded cities, it was not easy for people to be kind.

However, in the countryside, where people were hard to come by, hospitality could be exceptional.

While classifying these diverse humans, Jackson realized the greatness of God once again.

There are creatures that create thousands or tens of thousands of their clones at once.

However, humans produce one at a time—sometimes two, and occasionally three or four.

In other words, generally speaking, they can only give birth to one at a time.

That was the very difference.

It was God's law that humans dominate the Earth.

If humans give birth to only one at a time and are not cared for by an adult, the human child is destined to die within a few days.

That was the system.

They were different from creatures like insects that find food on their own shortly after birth, or deer that run around within minutes of birth.

If humans were to create a thousand clones at once, and do so within a few days, what would have become of this Earth?

It would have been inevitable that it would be covered in humans.

To prevent that from happening, the system was designed to allow humans to give birth to only one at a time. But now the whole Earth was covered with humans.

They deceived the food pyramid system created by God.

They had begun to practice farming.

If hungry, they would eat; if there was nothing, they would starve; and if food completely disappeared, humans had to die.

However, they had committed a crime that violated God's will by raising food.

Jackson vowed that he had to protect the system created by God.

There were too many humans on Earth.
